Ear otoplasty is a surgical procedure that alters the shape and positioning of the ears. It is a simple and safe procedure with little risk of complications. As plastic surgeons at Davinci, we’ve performed numerous otoplasty surgeries on children and adults, and we've found the procedure to be extremely rewarding.

An otoplasty is performed to improve the shape, size, and/or position of the ears. It can be used to correct protruding ears, large ears, earlobes that are too long, or any other issue that is affecting the appearance of the ears. The procedure is usually performed as an outpatient and does not necessitate a hospital stay.

The patient is usually put under general anesthesia during the procedure. Incisions are made along the back of the ear, and the surgeon begins reshaping the cartilage and skin. The surgeon may remove excess skin, cartilage, or bone depending on the patient's specific needs. Sutures are used to close the incisions and pin back the ears.

The recovery time for otoplasty surgery is relatively short. For the first few days following the procedure, the patient should keep his or her head elevated.
